April 29 -May 1st

Dear Families,
Thank you so much for all you have done so far to make this such a wonderful and successful year. It is so hard for me to believe that we are heading into the home stretch of this year and that your children will soon be 4th graders . It is always exciting and sad for me at the same time. We had a great time at the pond. The students enjoyed just wandering around  and looking at nature. We were fortunate enough to locate  the entire life cycle of a ladybug on a section of sunflowers. The students also enjoyed eating outdoors and playing in the park. A special thanks to David's mom and Rayna's mom for attending the field trip with us.
I hope that all of you had a chance to review the requirements for the biography/ wax museum project. This project requires the students to stay focused and organized in order to meet the deadlines but in the end when they perform at the Wax Museum it is worth it. So that you can plan accordingly, the Wax Museum will be on May 17th probably from around 8 to 11am. Please plan to stop in at some point during that time.

Here is a look at what is happening this week :
Reading / writing- focus on generating research questions, locating information about their famous person through books and the internet. Students will also be working on editing a piece of writing.

Math - we will finish comparing fractions and move into equivalent fractions.

Science - students will take a test on inherited traits and also, life cycles. We will then move into ecosystems and habitats.

Social studies - we will be looking at understanding time lines.

Homework :
Read each night for 30 minutes.
Monday and Wednesday - math  fraction sheet
Tuesday/Thursday - reading homework - comprehension

Reminder that Friday is field day. We will be going after lunch and finish at the end of the day. This is one of my favorite days. Please come out and join us if you can.

Hope that you have a wonderful week.
