Dear Families,,

I hope that all of you had a wonderful weekend. As usual it went by way too fast. But I did have the time to catch a basketball of game of  all couple of students and it was great.  Below find a list of events coming up this week and in the near future :

Monday Feb. 11th -Math night at Sommers Grove -5:30- 6:30 pm
Tuesday February 12th  -PTA general meeting - 6:30 - cafeteria- performance by second grade
Wednesday February 13th- spring pictures -form went home in Thursday folder
Thursday  February 14th - Happy Valentines day - our class party will be from 1:45 - 2:30 pm
Monday February 18th - President 's Day - student holiday/ staff development
Thursday February 21st - PTA Coffee hour- 7:30 am
Tuesday February 26th - School spirit days / Wear warm ups
Tuesday February 26th and Wednesday February - practice STAAR Testing- 5th grade science,   3rd/4th reading .  Wednesday 3rd/4th grade math - CAMPUS CLOSED TO VISITORS

Third Grade Bracelet Sales - a note went home in the Thursday folder last week looking for volunteers to help with the third grade bracelet sales . We sell bracelets as the our end product for our unit on how a business is run. For it to be successful,we need parent volunteers to assist the students when they sell.
The sales will start on Tuesday February 19th . Our class is scheduled to sell of Friday the 22nd. and we will need parent volunteers to  assist from about 10 - 1 . If you are free and able to help, please let
me know.

Here is a look at what we will learning this week :

Reading - our focus will be characters and their traits and how a character changes  during a story - focus on what the character says and does to make an inference about the the character.
Writing - continue to work on imaginary story and publish that story.
Science - continue to look at rapid changes to the earth - we will make a volcano and also  a landslide.
Math - we will be looking at multiplication.
Social Studies - we will be looking at  land forms

Homework

Read each night for 30 minutes
Tuesday/Thursday Reading  - Tuesday reading Time for Kids and answering questions.

Math - Monday and Wednesday -
Monday - review sheet
Wednesday - Patterns with multiplication

Also look for a sheet of subtraction paper that will be coming home each evening until we have it mastered.
