January 14- 18

  Hope that all of you have had a wonderful weekend. We had a very busy week last week. It was nice to see their smiling faces after a long break. Thank you so much for reviewing and signing the data letters that went home. If you have not yet returned those please do so as soon as possible. 

Explorer Excellence awards will be held on Tuesday January 15,2012. If you child is receiving an award, I have placed a note in your child's report card.  Here is a look of what we will be covering this week . 

Reading - we will continue to focus on poetry and this week we will look at lyrical and free verse poems as well  as how a poet creates imagery by the words that they use. 

Writing - we will be looking at writing our own poems. 

Math - we will continue to look at 2d and 3d shapes. We will also look at congruent shapes, lines of symmetry and also patterns. 

Science - we will continue to look at the sun and move into our investigation of the solar system. 

Social Studies - we will continue to look at needs and wants and then look at how to create a budget. 



Homework  
Reading - nightly for 30 minutes. 60 minutes on the weekend

Tuesday - complete sheet - Say Cheese 
Thursday - complete sheet  No Flying allowed 

Math - 2d shape project went home last  Wednesday and will be due on Friday January 18th. I showed the students an example last week. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.  

Monday - students will complete sheet - quadrilaterals
Wednesday - Students will complete sheet Lines of Symmetry 
Friday - 2d poster is due
