I hope that your child had a wonderful first week of school. I have enjoyed getting to know each of them. It was exciting to watch them as they shared their " Me Museum " today. All of them did a great job with sharing what they brought and why it was important. During this first week, we spent a lot of time setting up the class procedures and expectations. As we move forward this next week, we will continue to revisit those expectations regularly as we settle into our regular schedule.
Here is a look ahead of what we will be doing in class this next week :
Math : We will be reviewing place value to the hundreds place and then extending it to the thousands place. Students will be working on reading, writing numbers in standard , expanded and written form.
Science: We will begin by looking at safety in science by investigating the equipment that is necessary to make the science lab a safe place to work. This includes aprons, gloves and goggles.
Social Studies : We will continue to discuss the social skill of caring and how that should look, sound and feel in our classroom community.
Reading : I will introduce studnets to the "I PICK " strategy for selecting a book. We will then check out books from the class library. For the remainder of the week, we will be discussing " Inner Conversations" we have as a readers when we are reading.
Writing: We will set up our writing notebook and then begin to look at where a writer gets their ideas from. Students will begin generating a list of ideas.
