I hope that all of you have had a wonderful weekend and were able to enjoy the rain. Please remember that Wednesday this week is an early release day and that the students will be released at 12:45 pm. If your child participates in any activities outside of school, I would love to attend . If possible please send a schedule with your child. Here is what is going on this week
Math : we will continue with place value on Monday by comparing numbers.In second grade, students learned numbers through 100 and now they must know numbers through the 100,000 place. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we will be looking at money and then at the end of the week we will be looking at patterns on the 100's chart.
Reading - On Monday, we will look at how to write a response to what we are reading and we will practice a response as we learn to understand the rubric by which they will be graded. The remainder of the week we will be focusing on the differences between fiction and expository text.
Writing We will continue to work on our a personal experience stories and also look at nouns and verbs.
Science :The first part of the week we will be looking at scientific reasoning by discussing fact vs.opinion. The remainder of the week, we will begin our investigation into matter.
Social Studies : Monday is Constitution day so we will start the week looking at the Constitution. For the rest of the week,we will look at what is freedom?We will also discuss the Preamble to the constitution and also look at the Declaration of Independence.
HOMEWORK
Each day read for 20 minutes and 60minutes over the entire weekend.
Monday - math homework - comparing numbers
Tuesday - reading - article called Let's celebrate
Wednesday- math - Counting Money
Thursday - Reading article call National Symbols.
Friday - read 60 minutes for the weekend
