Thank you so very much for all of your wonderful donations of flour and salt. It is really appreciated. Also thank you to all of you who were able to donate to our Valentines Pary. Our party will be on Tuesday from 1:30 - 2:30. Please make sure if you are sending valentines that you send one for each student. A list was sent home last week their names.
We gave been busy in the classroom. Some students have finished filiming their movie about space and are in the process of editing it and adding music. I am very excited to see the final project. We have been writing personal narratives and the students have been working hard on revising their story and working to add more details. In reading, we just completed our unit on myths, fairytales, fables and folktales where we focused on the characters, setting, conflict, solution and theme. Next week, we will begin looking at persuasive text. The students are also working in the book club books and are really beginning to participate in the discussion of the books. They also are required to do written responses and all of the students are showing improvement. I really enjoy hearing their take on what they are reading. In math, we just completed a review of multiplication facts. It is important that the students begin memorizing those facts as they are a required to be memorized in 4th grade. We ended the week with two by one digit multiplication and they all found that to be fun. In social studies, we wrapped up our unitl on budgets .In science, we created a landform dictionary and the students will use this when they begin creating salt maps on Monday. It will be fun to see what they create.
