I hope that all of you enjoyed your three day weekend. We are alreay half way through January . It is hard to believe how fast it is going. This week, on Wednesday the students will be taking a writing benchmark. The focus will be on revising and editing a piece of writing. Next week, the students will do the second part of the benchmark where they will actually be writng a piece. This week we are finishing up our unit on the Solar System. We have a group a students who have been doing extra reading and soon will be creating a movie. This is so exciting. Last week in the computer lab, students were introduced to the Windows Movie Maker. I am very excited about this. In Social Studies, we are continuing our unit of Running a Business. This unit will end with our bracelet sales. We will make the bracelets and then sell them during the lunch time. We will have our bracelet sales the week of January 30th - February 3rd. Iam not sure yet what day we will be in charge of but I will need some parent suppor to supervise the students while they are selling. In math, we are completing our geometric shape unit and will begin measurement. In reading we are looking at the skill of making an inference. This is a very difficult skill for most third graders. In writing, we will complete our "How To" and then begin a personal narrative.

Tuesday - Spelling - due Friday - Please make sure they write in complete sentences and spell the spelling words correctly
