May 13 - May 17th

 Dear Parents,

Sorry I am late with my post this week. I had the stomach bug over the weekend and traveled to Lubbock today to help my daughter pack and  drive home from college. I hope that all of you had a wonderful Mother's Day. It seems that as the end of the year comes more things get scheduled. I am sorry for all of the notices that have been sent home already this week but just trying to get you the information . In case you have not seen the notices here are the things that you should have received between yesterday and today:

  1. A release so your child can have their picture taken or be in a video for Junior Master Gardner. Our class will be doing a lesson outside that day that they will video.  Please return ASAP as I need these or the students will not be able to participate .

2. Notice about our compliment party on Friday - Students will be allowed to wear appropriate pajamas in the afternoon on Friday and bring board games to play. Students may not wear tank tops, nightgowns or tank tops. All students must have shoes appropriate for PE it that day. We will begin our celebration after  the Wax Museum on Friday.

3. Notice about the third grade Amazing Race that will be held next Thursday. If you know anything about that show, students will work in teams to complete 15 tasks. We are looking for parent volunteers to work the 2 hour shift at a station so that we are able  to monitor the students. If you are able to help, please complete the form that was sent  home and return.  Thanks in advance for your help.

4. A notice went home last week regarding the  Wax Museum. The students have done a wonderful job with their projects in the classroom. The last piece will be to present their speech on Friday during our Wax Museum. Students must have any props/ costume here by Thursday for rehearsal.I have discussed with the students that the expectation is not to go and buy anything but rather they can make something or use something they have. We also discussed the rubric and that in order to earn and A students must have at least 3 props. Finally, students should have a copy of their speech in their homework folder and they should be working on this every night.   I hope that you will be able to attend the Wax Museum and see  what a wonderful job they do.

We are in the process of planning our end of year party. We will be doing this as entire grade level. Our party will be after lunch  until approximately 1:30 pm. We will be having our party outside. More information will be coming home soon.
